Tineco is a big up and comer in the vacuum world. They have produced many advanced floor cleaners that are finally getting their time in the sun and the attention they deserve. Today we’re going to compare two of their best models: Tineco Floor One S3 vs S5. The Floor One models are among their best with the S5 being the newest iteration, but has it made enough changes to be worth your money? Or is the S3 a better deal?

We’re going to compare Tineco Floor One S5 vs S3 based on brush, suction, water tanks, battery life, and app integration. We’ll then look at any other differences that we missed.

Read on to see which is the best value.

Brush

Both the Tineco Floor One S3 and S5 have the same brush roll itself. This brush is capable of working on all hard floors such as sealed wood, tile, laminate, and much more. Some might be disappointed that they aren’t made for carpets, but that’s fairly common when it comes to floor cleaners.

We could end it here by saying that the brush is exactly the same. They are both great at picking up both dry and wet messes, and they both are large enough to quickly finish cleaning your whole home with ease. You’ll find that they both also have self-cleaning functions so that they can be cleaned without you touching them.

However, there is one major difference that makes S5 the better of the two. While the brush itself is the same, the S5 has much better edge cleaning. Look at the vacuum head and you’ll notice that the brush isn’t centered, it’s actually towards the side. This allows you to push it right against your wall for superior edge cleaning.

While the S3 doesn’t offer the same edge cleaning, you’ll find that they perform about the same around the rest of the room. If your edges are consistently dirty, then the S5 is better. If edges aren’t that hard to reach, then it’s a tie.

Suction

You want a vacuum that has enough suction to clean your floors, but not so much that it sucks up wires or wastes battery life unnecessarily. Both are great, but you might be surprised about which one is stronger between them.

The Floor One S5 by Tineco offers 22W or 30W of suction power. We’ll explain the difference in a moment. This is pretty good and you’ll find that it makes short work of most messes.

However, the Floor One S3 by Tineco is actually stronger with 30W of suction power. This makes it a little better for tough messes, but overall you’ll find that they both perform quite well.

Why the significant difference? There are actually two versions of the S5. There is the single S5 and the S5 Combo. The S5 is a single vacuum unit that cleans your floors with ease. The S5 Combo actually holds a portable vacuum right inside the main body. You can take this out and clean around edges, under spaces, on your stairs, and anywhere else. Speaking of stairs, we also found the Best Vacuum for Stairs, be sure to read if stairs are a big pain in your home.

While the S5 Combo is weaker, it does make the vacuum much more versatile because you can now clean hard-to-reach spaces. It also comes with many attachments for better reach, better cleaning, and more.

Water Tank

Much like with suction, this section depends on which model you choose. Before we go into their differences, let’s talk about what makes them similar.

All three models here use two-tank technology. This is common for top floor cleaners because it allows one tank to hold the clean water and solution while the other has dirty water. Only clean water will be used on your floors, while the dirty water sucked up by the vacuum will be placed in the dirty water tank.

Both tanks are simple to remove. This allows you to easily fill the clean water tank and empty the dirty one.

Since all three have different tank sizes, let’s break them down. They are:

Tineco Floor One S3 Water Tank Size

  • Clean Water Tank: 0.6L
  • Dirty Water Tank: 0.5L

Tineco Floor One S5 Water Tank Size

  • Clean Water Tank: 0.8L
  • Dirty Water Tank: 0.7L

Tineco Floor One S5 Combo Water Tank Size

  • Clean Water Tank: 0.5L
  • Dirty Water Tank: 0.45L

The S5 single unit is the best, S3 is in the middle, and S5 Combo has the smallest tanks. That being said, all three are actually quite large and should be big enough to easily clean most of your home with ease. You may need to refill once to ensure you have enough water, but that should be it.

Tineco Floor One S3 vs S5: Battery Life

All three models are cordless floor cleaners. This means that they rely on an internal battery to ensure the vacuum can run without being plugged in. The battery charger is amazing with these models and you’ll love it.

The battery life is great with all three, but which is the best? Let’s find out.

The battery capacity for the Tineco S3 is 4000mAh and it has a battery life of 35 minutes. The battery capacity for the Tineco S5 is exactly the same at 4000mAh and 35 minutes. While it’s certainly the most versatile of the bunch, the Tineco S5 Combo has the smallest battery at 2500mAh and 20 minutes of battery life.

While the S5 Combo offers the lowest battery life, remember that this works for both the main vacuum and the handheld one as well. You should be able to easily clean your home in the 20 minutes, especially since this uses smart technology to ensure that you’re only using as much power as needed.

Tineco Floor One S5 vs S3: App Integration and Smarts

This section is a tie because all three models have the same app integration and use the Tineco iLoop sensor technology. It’s like a compass that shows you exactly where the dirt is. You’ll find that you’ll clean better than ever with iLoop scanning around the room for you.

Let’s start with iLoop first. This is a color-coded sensor on the LED display that shows both red and blue. Blue means that the area is clean, but red means that it has found a mess that needs to be cleaned up. This is a 360-degree sensor that is constantly checking around you to ensure that all the dirt and debris is picked up.

You might think that scanning the room with your eyes is enough, but chances are that you’re missing dirt and other particles. The sensor is highly reliable and it’s actually interesting to use.

All three vacuums also come with app integration with the Tineco app. The app is amazing because it gives you detailed information about the vacuum. You’ll know about maintenance issues, how well the vacuum is performing, and other information that will ensure you get the best from your Tineco floor cleaner.
