Two of the most iconic vacuum brands around are Bissell and Hoover and knowing which is best largely depends on your needs. Today we’re going to compare Bissell ProHeat 2x Revolution Pet Pro vs Hoover Smartwash Automatic Carpet Cleaner to see which is ideal for your home. Both of these are dry and wet vacuums that are able to clean dry messes with the brushes, or use their water tanks to help with deeper stains on your carpet.

So, which one is best between Hoover Smartwash vs Bissell ProHeat 2x Revolution Pet Pro? We are going to compare their brushes, water tank, weight, tools, cord length, and other differences that we can find.

It’s worth noting that Bissell Revolution Pet Pro is an upgraded version of the Revolution Pet. If you’re curious about that, we just compared Bissell Revolution Pet vs Pro.

Bissell vs Hoover: Brush

These brushes are very different, so let’s really dive deep into them. Now, we’ll start off by saying that both are good for cleaning standard messes. They also get deep into carpet fibers and remove dust, debris, and everything else.

Hoover comes with the FlexForce PowerBrushes. This powerful brush was designed to separate the fibers and dig deep into your carpet. Hoover is known for getting deep cleans on carpets, and you’ll definitely experience that with the Hoover Smartwash.

What about Bissell? Bissell fires back with Dual DirtLifter PowerBrushes. If it sounds similar it’s because it is. This brush offers 12 rotating rows of bristles that sweep all the dirt and debris right into the vacuum.

While they both excel with standard cleaning, there are two advantages that only Bissell Pet Pro ProHeat has.

Bissell has a removable cover that lowers your overall clearance. Simply remove the cover (it’s as easy as it sounds) and you can get under smaller places like sofas and lounge chairs.

Another advantage is that Bissell ProHeat Pet Pro does a far better job with pet hair. Hoover Smartwash Automatic cleans up pet hair, and a fair amount of it to be honest. However, the brush can get tangled pretty easily. You shouldn’t have to worry about that with Bissell.

If you have pets, then Bissell is the easy winner. If you don’t, then Bissell is still better overall, but Hoover’s lower price point might be better for your needs.

Water Tank

What are you really buying these vacuums for? It’s because you want mopping power when you need to clean a deep stain, such as pet urine, wine, mud, or anything else wet. Both of these are great, but which one is better?

Let’s look at their water tank capacity first. Both of these come with the exact same capacity at 1 gallon each. That’s actually really good and ensures that you can clean just about any mess with ease.

However, each vacuum differs quite a bit from here.

Hoover has a separate 20oz solution tank specifically for cleaners. This makes it easy to separate the two. You can clean only with water, or you can mix the two with ease if you need a little more power to clean the carpet.

Bissell doesn’t have a separate solution tank like this. You’re expected to add the solution directly to the water tank. This should be fine for most people, but some might prefer the separation.

So, what does Bissell do that Hoover can’t?

It has a nozzle right by the brushes that squirts cleaner directly onto the stain. This allows you to get even more power when you need it, but the pretreater is great at eating away at the stain before you use the water and solution combo.

Overall it’s hard to say which one is better. Hoover seems a little more practical, but Bissell impresses us more. In general, it’s a toss up in this section.

Heat Technology

There’s a huge difference here that we have to mention. Some people will want to clean with warm water because, let’s be honest, warm water really cuts through any stain. This melts away that stuck on dirt and debris and makes your carpet so much cleaner.

So in the Bissell vs Hoover debate, which one is better with this?

Hoover HeatForce technology sounds like it would offer steam cleaning, doesn’t it? Unfortunately this only applies some heat to the carpet and ensures that everything dries quickly. It’s useful, but it doesn’t help fight stains. It only ensures that you can walk on the spot quickly after cleaning.

What about Bissell ProHeat 2x Revolution Pet Pro? The ProHeat technology gives you warm water cleaning power while also drying your carpet quickly. This cuts through stains like a hot knife through butter. Simply turn on the heat, wait a few minutes, and remove any stain on your carpet.

Don’t have any stains? This is still a great way to refresh your carpet and clean much deeper and better than with any other vacuum.

If you don’t want warm water cleaning, Then Hoover is fine. But if you want the best, then Bissell is far better in this regard.

Weight and Tools

Like with the other sections, there are many similarities here, but one is clearly better than the other.

When it comes to weight, some people might think that lighter is always better. Who wants to drag around a heavy vacuum cleaner if they don’t have to? While we’d like to agree, it wouldn’t be true. You need a vacuum that is light enough to move around your home, but you also want it to be heavy enough so that it’s powerful and sturdy.

With that said, where do these vacuums stand?

They are nearly identical when it comes to weight. Bissell is 18lbs while Hoover is 19lbs. We’ll call this section a tie because they are functionally identical. This is also a good weight in general.

What about extra tools?

Both of these come with a 2-in-1 pet cleaner tool. This hand tool is ideal for cleaning stains or anywhere else that needs some extra cleaning. However, only Bissell comes with another tool: the three-inch tough stain tool.

This is similar to the 2-in-1, but it’s much better with harder stains.

The extra tool gives Bissell the edge here, but they are very similar overall.

Cord Length

Don’t you hate when the cord is too short? This can make a simple cleaning job really hard, especially if you don’t have a convenient outlet around. While cord lengths tend to be fairly similar with most carpet cleaners and vacuums, we still think it’s important to check this just in case.

In our Bissell vs Hoover carpet cleaner review, we found that the Hoover cord length is about 22’, which isn’t bad. This should be enough to clean most messes, but some people have noted that it feels a little short. Overall, we would say this is an OK cord length.

What about the Bissell Revolution ProHeat Pet Pro? This vacuum has a cord length of 25’, which is much better. It might just seem like 3 feet more, but that makes a big difference, especially when the stain is a bit further away from an outlet.

While Bissell Pet Pro ProHeat is obviously better, we can’t say it’s by a huge margin. Both of these are fairly similar, but Bissell is the better of the two.

What is the Difference Between Bissell ProHeat 2x Revolution Pet Pro and Hoover Smartwash?

Curious about all the difference between Hoover Smartwash and Bissell ProHeat 2x Revolution Pet Pro? There are quite a few to be honest, and as you may have noticed, Bissell is the better carpet cleaner out of the two in general.

It has a better brush design, plus it’s designed for pet hair and deeper cleaning in general. Both have the same water capacity, but Bissell can heat the water while Hoover can only warm your rug or carpet for faster drying.

Both allow you to mix cleaning solutions with the water, but they are a little different. Hoover has a specific compartment for this while Bissell has a pretreater that allows you to squirt the stain. We were mixed about which is better where, they are both about the same.

Bissell has some extras, like an extra cleaning tool, plus the longer cord. Overall, there are many differences and most of them are in Bissell’s favor. The one advantage that Hoover has is that it’s more affordable.

Which is Better: Bissell ProHeat 2x Revolution Pet Pro or Hoover Smartwash?

Both of these carpet cleaners serve different purposes. It’s a common example of features vs price as one is more expensive with additional features and more power, while the other is more affordable, but scaled back a bit.

If you’re able to spend a little more (usually about $50 to $100 more, but check the price to confirm), then the Bissell ProHeat carpet cleaner is better. It’s stronger and has more features, and it’s just easier to use overall.

However, if you’re most concerned with price, then you may want to choose the Hoover Smartwash. It’s a good carpet cleaner and does a great job with stains, but it’s just not quite as good.

Final Thoughts

Picking a winner can be tough here because both Hoover and Bissell carpet cleaners are fantastic, but there is one that is easily better than the other. The Bissell ProHeat steam cleaner has more options, features, and power, plus it’s only a little more expensive. Not only that, but it works wonders on pet hair.

However, maybe you’re looking for an affordable Hoover carpet cleaner that does the job right. In that case, The Smartwash by Hoover might be better for you. It doesn’t have quite as many features, but it’s better than many other carpet cleaners in the same price range, and it works amazingly well on most stains.

So, which one do you choose? Be sure to let us know.
